.but we can do it!.
He can't do it! Matt yelled throwing papers down in frustration. Im not going to let up on him like that Matt! I said rising my voice as I stared at him. Matt didn't think Spencer could do it. Spencer wouldn't do well in any of the Triple Crown races, but I had faith in him. WELL......... whatever Matt growled and picked up the papers, storming out of the office. Matt! I yelled and ran after him. I caught him by the arm. You don't worry about Spencer. You worry about your own horses. I know he can do it! You watch. I said. I released his arm and stormed in the other direction. You watch, I thought. I marched down to Spencer stall and glanced in. The grey stallion happily looked at my and nickered. Hiya boy... I cooed and rubbed his shoulder. How about a quick breeze boy? I said softly, grabbing a lead rope. I entered the stall and clipped the lead to his halter. I led him out of the stall and down to a pair of cross ties. I tacked him up and walked him a bit to make sure it was all right and things. When after tacking him up I walked out towards the track. I know you can do it..... I whispered as I put my hand on his shoulder. I pulled my self up into the saddle and rubbed his shoulder. Come on boy.. I spoke softly, urging him into a walk onto the track. He happily walked forward, ears perked forward as he glanced around. His grey head was held high as if he were proud. As if he were the best horse on this track. I urged him into a canter to warm him up. When I felt he was ready I urged him into a gallop. He jumped forward we so much speed it surprised me. I was deating to weather let him run he fastest so see what he really got or to just hold him back.... Oh it was so hard. He had never really been let go, allowing him to run his fastest but I wanted him ready for his next race.... but I rather be safe and not hurt him.... Ok then that was it. I wasn't going to push him that hard. Easy I said softly a bit disappointed in my self. I pulled back the reins a bit to slow him back. I planned on galloping him 8 furlongs so he would be ready for his next race. I knew he won't place well(because of the judge) but I knew no matter what he would do his best and that all that mattered. I knew he had it in him to be a winner, but it is never his time to shine. But I know it will be his time to shine, and it would be soon! With all the work we have been doing he had to win sometime. The grey colt stood 17hands and he was powerful. He was bred by us out of a grade 1 racing stallion and we had high hopes for him since he was a foal. We knew he would make a fine racers, yet we have hopes he would make more of a excellent jumper. Our only goal for him is to get him to grade 1 so he would be our first home bred grade 1. Whoa... I said slowing him down to a canter then a walk. I cooled him out a bit before dismounting and leading him off the track. He held his head high, like he was the king or something... I smiled and worked towards the barn. Hey! I heard a familiar voice yell. I turned around. It was Matt. Im sorry about earlier... Im wrong.... he said and looked at Spencer. He can do it. You can do it. I saw you guys out there and you look great. Impressive..... He said softly and patted Spencer. The grey stallion snorted in returned and nudged his hand for a treat. I smiled and gave Matt a hug. It will be a long shot... She whispered. Matt smiled and kissed me on the forehead. We turned and started to lead Spencer off to the stables. He deserved a few treats after today.
