Time to show what beneath the dirt
I lead the filly out towards the track, the sun was barely peaking out behind the clouds. The palomino filly was in tip top shape. Her golden coat was brushed to perfection, dapples forming on her hip. She pranced under me, skittishly, staring wide eye at the track. She jumped back a bit, tossing her head. Her creamy mane flopped side to side, landing unevenly on both sides of her neck. I brushed her mane to one side and urged the filly follow, into a trot on the track. The filly jumped forward, nervously. Easy Ali I mumbled as I stood up in the stirrups. The filly did a few figure eights and we trotted about half the track, warming up. Every time she did something right or good I praised her, letting her know she do something right. To get her more courage and more self esteem. The golden filly seemed to perk up, becoming more happy and excited. The filly seemed more at easy on the track. I smiled and placed my hand on the neck. Ready girlie? I whispered in her yellow ear. Her ears twitched back and forth listening to my voice. I grabbed a bit of her mane and urged her forward in to a slow gallop. Instantly the filly took off in a very steady gallop. We were going to do a steady gallop for 5 furlongs, just to stretch her muscle before her first race. We flew down the track, passing the five furlong marker. I pulled the reins, pulling the fill down to a trot. Good Ali. I said softly and patted the filly's palomino shoulder. We trotted a bit more before I pulled her down to a canter, than a walk. You did good today.. I said affectionately, rubbing her shoulder. When I finished cooling her off I led her off towards the stable. I couldn't wait for her first race...
