im so macho its scary
Cut it out! I said tugging the reins. Mack was being a butt head and I was just about ready to give up on him. He has been so mean, rude and just mad. He would try to strike out at any other horses that came near him and that need to stop NOW. The dark bay colt pinned his ears back and shot forward in a gallop down the track. NO I said strongly sitting deep in the saddle, pulling him to a stop. I turned him in a circle to the left, then the right. We are going to do this MY way I said standing up in the stirrups, urging the colt into a trot. Instantly he burst out into a gallop. NO! I said sternly, pulling him to a stop making him walk in a circle this way, than the other way. I held the reins tightly in my hand and urged him into a trot. This time he went into a trot. Good boy.. I said softly and patted his neck. We were going to trot a lap and canter one and that was it. It would be ready for his next race and maybe would surprise the crowd if he were to place well. The colt broke stride, trying to bolt forward back I caught him before he could I pulled the reins sharply giving him a reminder. The colt was very promising it just he needed to learn his manners and understand he had to listen to his rider even if he was mad. We trotted down the track, some other riders passing up. The colt pinned his ears back, and shot forward running towards the other horse. NO! I said and pulled him to a stop, walking him in a circle on way and than the other. I urged him into a trot and started zig zaging him across the track, going on way and than the other. After a few times of doing this I allowed him to trot along the rail. After we trotted a lap I urged him into a canter. He pinned his ears back, but listened obediently. Good boy I praised him. He wasn't no dream horse yet, but if I kept working with him he could turn into one. Before long we cantered a lap and I pulled him up to a stop, and started to walk him out. I rubbed his shoulder affectionately and smiled. If you listen like you did today, maybe we can win a race soon... I mumbled.
