Streaks Of Passion and Jake Allen
Be easy on him... Bell growled as I urged the colt onto the track. She leaned against the rail, one hand on her growing belly. From what I was told the colt was a twin, had a temper and was one of the two most promising 2 year olds at the stables. He had broke his maiden on the first try and never placed out of the money. He like to hold back till about mid way though the race then just stalk his way forward. Easy My deep voice whispered in the colts ear. He tried to grab the bit and pull forward but I could tell what he was doing. I gave a slight tug on the reins and urged the colt forward into a canter. He picked his ears slightly back not like it one bit, yet he still did as told. Today we were just going to do a light canter/trot ran, nothing more. I was told not to over work him and just go easy on him. The bay colt was something. There was something about him, I just couldn't put my finger on it. After cantering about half the track I urged him into a trot to trot the rest. Just a nice little canter/trot around the track so I knew how he worked. My next workout with him would be in a little mock race to see how he really worked and what I could do to make him better. I knew Bella was watching me intently making sure I was doing my job right. She was so over protective over her horses. She made she I did everything her way and it had to be done just right. As I came towards were she stood I slowed Streak to a canter, than a walk. So what'd you think? I said looking at Bell. The little women eyed the colt and nodded her head. Good enough... She said and flashed a smile. His next race is in a week She said. Maybe this time he can beat his brother. Show them who the better twin is. She said as she started to turn around and head up towards the stable. I nodded and walked the colt out some more, cooling him off.
